Office 365 Tenant-to-Tenant Migration

The migration from one Office 365 tenant to another was successfully completed to consolidate organizational resources and enhance operational efficiency. CodeTwo Email Migration was leveraged to ensure a seamless and secure transfer of mailboxes and related data while minimizing downtime and disruptions.

Preparation:

• Assessed the source and target tenants, including mailboxes, shared mailboxes, and distribution lists.
• Verified domain ownership, licensing, and permissions in both tenants.
• Communicated the migration timeline to stakeholders and prepared users for the transition.

CodeTwo Email Migration Process:

• Configured CodeTwo Email Migration with the appropriate source and target tenant credentials.
• Established connections to both tenants using Azure AD and ensured OAuth authentication for secure access.
• Applied filtering rules to include only necessary mailbox data, such as emails, folders, calendars, and tasks.

Migration Execution:

• Initiated mailbox migrations in batches, allowing continuous monitoring of progress and resolving any issues promptly.
• Ensured incremental synchronization to capture changes made during the migration process.
• Verified mailbox content integrity post-migration to ensure all data was accurately transferred to the target tenant.

Post-Migration Tasks:

• Updated DNS records (MX, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC) to route mail flow to the target tenant.
• Validated email flow, user access, and other Office 365 services such as OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams.
• Decommissioned the source tenant after confirming all services were fully operational in the target tenant.
